MOSCOW, August 25 The Russian lunar program must be adjusted so that the functionality not received due to the Luna-25 accident was implemented in the course of further missions , said on the air of the TV channel «Russia 24» the general director of «Roskosmos» Yuri Borisov.
«If we have an abnormal completion of the first mission, it is necessary to correct the entire program in such a way that the missing functionality on this mission is implemented in the process of the entire planned lunar program,» Borisov said.
The Luna-25 station, launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome on August 11, crashed on the surface of the Moon on August 19 due to engine malfunction. Roskosmos said on Friday that as one of the options for continuing the Russian lunar program, the possibility of repeating the mission to land on the South Pole in 2025-2026 could be considered.
