WASHINGTON, Aug 24 Actor/producer Alec Baldwin has not been dismissed in a lawsuit filed by the crew of Rust over the shooting of cinematographer Galina Hutchins, reports ABC News.
«A judge in the state of New Mexico has denied Baldwin's motion to dismiss a civil lawsuit filed by members of the Rast film crew who insist the actor and producer cut corners on safety and preparation issues,» the network reported.
The lawsuit was filed by three members of the crew, the report said.
In October 2021, Baldwin fired a pistol during a rehearsal, which turned out to be loaded not with blanks, but with live ammunition. As a result, cameraman Galina Hutchins died, director Joel Souza was seriously injured. The actor stated that he did not pull the trigger of the gun from which the cameraman was killed. The shot, according to him, occurred spontaneously. This statement was challenged by a forensic examination.
Baldwin was initially charged with the manslaughter of Hutchins, but prosecutors later withdrew the charges, but did not rule out a retrial.
