DONETSK, 25 Aug. At 5:40 pm Ukrainian troops fired four 155-mm cluster shells from «NATO» artillery at the Yasinovatsky district and Makeevka, the DPR representative office in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine (JCCC).
«Fire was recorded from the armed formations of Ukraine in the following directions: 17.40 — the settlement of Orlovka — Yasinovatsky district: two shells of 155 millimeters caliber (cluster) were fired; 17.40 — the settlement of Orlivka — the settlement of Makeevka (Kirov district): two were fired projectile with a caliber of 155 millimeters (cassette),” the representative office said in a telegram channel.
In addition, at 17.30 Ukrainian troops fired four more shells with a caliber of 152 mm according to Holmovsky.
Makeevka is a satellite city of Donetsk, adjacent to it from the northeast. In 2014, the population of Makeevka was about 350 thousand people.
155 mm artillery is used by NATO countries. The United States supplied Ukraine with long-range M777 howitzers of 155 mm caliber, Ukrainian troops are actively using them to shell the cities of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. Also, the Ukrainian troops were supplied with German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns using shells of this caliber.
