MOSCOW, Aug 26 Inflation in Russia in 2023 will be around 6%, the authorities plan to take the necessary measures to return it to the Bank of Russia target of 4% next year, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said in an interview with CGTN .
“Although our inflation has grown, we expect it to remain at the level of 6%, about 6% this year. In subsequent years, our target is 4%, and we and the Central Bank will accept all the necessary measures to bring inflation down to our planned levels,» Siluanov said.
The Bank of Russia forecasts inflation this year at 5-6.5%. According to the regulator's forecast, inflation should stabilize near 4% in 2024 and will remain at this target level in the future.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development, as of August 21, inflation in Russia in annual terms amounted to 4.88%. In April, the agency predicted inflation for 2023 at 5.3%.
On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that inflationary risks in Russia are growing and the task of curbing price growth is now coming to the fore.
