The court arrested six Crimean Tatars in the case of a terrorist organization; those who came to support them were detained and issued subpoenas

The Kyiv District Court of Simferopol arrested three more Crimean Tatars accused of terrorism. Lawyers Safiye Shabanova, Siyar Panich and Emil Kurbedinov told Crimean Solidarity about this.

Seydamet Mustafayev, Eldar Yakubov and Abdulmedzhit Seytumerov were sent to SIZO No. 2 in Simferopol. The part of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code under which the men are charged is unknown. There are no cards of their cases on the website of the court.

The investigation insisted on the arrest, pointing out that the Crimean Tatars do not have «sustainable social ties» and allegedly can hide. Seytumerov said in court that he was a citizen of Ukraine, and asked that Article 4 of the Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War be applied to him.

Searchs in the houses of Mustafaev, Yakubov, Seytumerov, as well as Ruslan Asanov, Ametkhan Umerov and Remzi Nimetulaev, residents of Bakhchisarai and the Bakhchisaray district, who were sent to the pre-trial detention center a day earlier, took place early in the morning on August 24.

Lawyer Edem Semedlyaev told Crimean Solidarity that the security forces had been following the arrested for several years. According to him, from the materials of the case it becomes clear that the FSB officers “listened to the households of the Crimean Tatars, where they allegedly recorded some meetings.” In addition, according to Semedlyaev, the testimony of two hidden witnesses was used to initiate the case, “who say that they allegedly attended some secret meetings.”

Crimean Solidarity reports that on August 25, when the second trio was sent to the pre-trial detention center, the security forces detained 23 people near the court who came to support them. The detainees were taken to the police department in the Kievsky district of Simferopol. There, all of them were given summons to the military registration and enlistment office for «verification of data.»

According to the Crimean Solidarity, the detainees were issued protocols on the organization of a mass simultaneous stay of citizens, which caused a violation of public order (Article 20.2.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Some were sent to temporary detention centers in different cities of Crimea before the trial.
