MOSCOW, Aug 26 creating a separate federal district for the new regions of Russia, but there has not yet been a substantive discussion, Yevgeny Balitsky, Acting Governor of the Zaporozhye Region, said in an interview.
In June, at the SPIEF, Acting Governor of the Kherson Region Vladimir Saldo expressed the opinion that a separate federal district should be created for the new Russian regions.
«There are talks about the federal district, but there has not been a substantive discussion yet. In this case, I think it is not very correct to state my vision until a program is presented, which and which federal district will include regions and republics» Balitsky said.
In October 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed federal constitutional laws on the admission of new territories to Russia and the formation of new subjects of Russia. Russia included LPR, DPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. This happened after the referendums that took place in these regions on September 23-27. In the DPR, 99.23% of voters voted for this decision, in the LPR — 98.42%, in the Kherson region — 87.05% and in Zaporozhye — 93.11%.
