MOSCOW, August 29 The fall of the Luna-25 station will be an occasion for the Russian space industry to analyze the mistakes, not despair and move further into space exploration, the spokesman said Russian President Vladimir Putin Dmitry Peskov.
“We all know that the path to the stars lies through thorns, so there is nothing to worry about, the main thing is to continue the Russian space program, a unique space program that also contains the lunar element, so the main thing is not to stop, which means that the plans quite ambitious, and they will be implemented further,» Peskov said.
«We know that the exploration of outer space, the implementation of complex space programs does not happen without failures, this is not a reason to despair, to tear your hair out — this is another reason to analyze the causes and eliminate them for the next times,» he added.
The Soyuz 2.1b rocket with the first domestic lunar station in almost 50 years was launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome at 02.11 Moscow time on 11 August. On August 16, the spacecraft entered lunar orbit. On August 19, a transition to a pre-landing orbit was expected, and a soft landing at the South Pole of the Moon was expected on August 21. On August 19, Roskosmos reported that an emergency situation had occurred on board the station, which did not allow the transition to a pre-landing orbit with the given parameters. The next day, the state corporation announced that Luna-25 had entered an off-design orbit, collided with the Moon, and ceased to exist.
