According to a correspondent, the solemn ceremony of inauguration of the new head of Perm, Eduard Sosnin, took place on Monday at the city Palace of Youth. At the inauguration, the decision of the deputies of the City Duma of August 22, 2023 on the election of Sosnin to the post of mayor was announced. The new head of the city took the oath, he was given a certificate and a badge.
«I assume the powers of the head of the city of Perm, I promise to conscientiously fulfill my duty, to comply with the Constitution of the Russian Federation, federal laws, the charter of Perm … to contribute to the well-being of the city and its inhabitants,» Sosnin said.
Governor Dmitry Makhonin wished him to complete all the projects started by his predecessor, preserve the created facilities, develop the industrial potential of the city, and ensure comfortable living for residents. Makhonin presented Sosnin with a book about the history of Perm and the Perm Territory and a hammer (a symbol of the inflexibility of the Ural character).
«It (weighs) 16-18 kilograms. In addition to fitness, the hammer can be used to knock bureaucratic nonsense out of the heads. Let this hammer help you forge the future of Perm and the region. Good luck,» the governor said.
«I am aware of the enormous responsibility that I must bear before the people of Perm, deputies and the leadership of the region. Residents are waiting for the solution of specific pressing problems, so one of the main principles of the work of the city administration should be the result. It is important to be in close contact with the residents of the city, it is necessary to hear what the residents say , community and business,» Sosnin added.
Eduard Sosnin is 40 years old, he lives with his family in Perm, graduated from the local branch of the Higher School of Economics, headed the Lysva company «Mercury» (production of hangers for clothes), in 2019 he became the winner of the «Leaders of Russia» management competition, since 2021 Headed the Regional Ministry of Economic Development and Investments. At the end of August 2023, Sosnin joined the United Russia party.
The previous head of Perm Alexei Demkin resigned ahead of schedule in June and went to work in the regional government. After that, a competition was held to select candidates for the post of mayor, for which 15 people applied, a special commission admitted two to the final stage. Sosnin's candidacy was supported by the majority of deputies of the City Duma (24 city parliamentarians voted for him). For almost two months, Deputy Mayor Olga Andrianova acted as head of Perm.
