The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow extended the arrest of 36-year-old Aleksey Tikhomirov, who is accused of sabotage (Part 1 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code). This is reported by the correspondent of «Mediazona».
As it became known at the meeting, Tikhomirov was detained on April 14, but this was not publicly reported earlier. The reason for the criminal case was the arson of relay cabinets on the railway. When exactly and where this arson took place is not known.
Tikhomirov himself opposed the extension of the arrest. He explained that only covered cupboards were damaged because of the arson: “They worked before I arrived, they worked after I arrived. And except for the railroad workers who paint them and somehow serve them, no one, in principle, knew about my arrival. The fact that they are now qualifying me for a serious article, and they want to reclassify me for an even more serious one, I consider wrong, illegal and unreasonable.
Tikhomirov is a native of the city of Kupriyansk, Kharkov region of Ukraine. He has Russian citizenship, he lived in Sergiev Posad near Moscow. The accused said at the meeting that he did not intend to hide from the investigation, since he had “stable social ties”, a wife and a daughter.
It was also mentioned at the meeting that Tikhomirov had previously been convicted. The database of the Sergiev Posad city court has two sentences against Tikhomirov Alexei Viktorovich. In 2012, he was sentenced to a year and eight months in prison in the case of theft causing significant damage (point «c» of part 2 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code). In 2014, the court passed another sentence in the case of robbery (part 1 of article 161 of the Criminal Code), battery (part 1 of article 116 of the Criminal Code), threat of murder (part 1 of article 119 of the Criminal Code) and theft (paragraph «c» of part 2 of article 158 of the Criminal Code) .
