MOSCOW, Aug 29 Non-recognition by the West of the elections in Russia does not matter for the future of the country, the main thing is the opinion of «our people» and their confidence in the results of the vote, and the task of the Central Election Commission is to ensure the legitimacy of the electoral process, Ella Pamfilova, head of the CEC of the Russian Federation, said in an interview.
“Why on earth should we bother what these strange people from the Capitol Hill, foggy Albion or the European quarter will think, who have largely lost touch with reality and with their peoples? Moreover, they have not said what they think for a long time really,» Pamfilova said.
She stressed that for all her colleagues in the Central Election Commission and throughout the entire electoral system, it is important what «our people — citizens of Russia» think, as it is important that the people trust the results.
“It is for them that we work. Our task is to ensure the reliability of the vote, the legitimacy of the elections in general, so that our people trust the results of the elections. And what our enemies will proclaim is not difficult to guess right now, and it does not matter for the future of Russia,» the head of the CEC explained.
Elections in Russia will be held on a single voting day on September 10, and presidential elections in the Russian Federation are scheduled for 2024.
