VLADIVOSTOK, Aug 29 The cyclone brought 73 millimeters of precipitation to Vladivostok in a day, a representative of the city administration said.
«In Vladivostok, 73 millimeters of precipitation fell (by nightfall — ed.),» the agency's interlocutor said.
Primgidromet clarified that the monthly rainfall for August in Vladivostok is 176 millimeters.
On Tuesday, the authorities informed about flooding of sections of roads in different parts of the city, power outages due to rain. It was reported that four houses were flooded. Later, the GUMCHS of the region said that the basements of two buildings of the Sedanka boarding school for the elderly and disabled were flooded. The department said firefighters were pumping out water. According to the website of the institution, 712 people live in the boarding school.
Earlier, weather forecasters issued a storm warning due to the approach of a cyclone to Primorye on August 29 with an increase in wind on the coast to 19-24 m/s, and on capes — gusts up to 27-32 m/s, with sea level rise and strong downpours. On Wednesday, Primorye will remain under the influence of the southern cyclone and its frontal sections. It has been raining in many areas of Primorye, including Vladivostok, since Tuesday morning.
