ROSTOV-ON-DON, August 29 The first Russian-built cruise liner «Peter the Great» is being prepared for sea trials in the waters of the Volga and the Caspian sea, according to the administration of the governor of the region.
The first post-Soviet liner «Peter the Great» was built in Russia for cruises on the Caspian and Black Seas at the production site of the Lotos shipyard of the Southern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center (part of the USC) under the PV300VD project for the operator Mosturflot. Passengers will have access to restaurants, spas, gyms, a swimming pool and a sauna. In total, the «floating hotel» has 155 cabins with 310 beds. 90 employees, including crew members, will serve tourists. 
“In the Astrakhan region, the cruise ship Peter the Great is being prepared for sea trials. It is noted that it is planned to be put into operation by the next tourist season.
According to the governor of the Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin, who assessed the readiness of the ship, the construction of such ships will help develop cruise tourism in the Astrakhan region and in Russia as a whole. International partners from Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan are ready to consider the creation of new cruise routes, he noted.
“Peter the Great” will follow the Volga, the Caspian, Azov and Black Seas, calling at Aktau, Turkmenbashi, Baku and Makhachkala.
«Vessels of this class have not been built in Russia for more than 60 years. When creating the liner «Peter the Great», Astrakhan shipbuilders mastered a new direction in shipbuilding. This will allow our region to accept orders for similar work. We are ready to provide support for the continuation of the project and serial construction, including for our partners from the Caspian states,» Babushkin said in the message.
