Titov asked to allow the transportation of flexible containers through the Kerch Strait

MOSCOW, August 30Commissioner under the President of Russia for the protection of the rights of entrepreneurs Boris Titov appealed to the Ministry of Transport of Russia with a request to lift the ban on the transport of flexible containers used for the supply of mineral fertilizers through the Kerch Strait, the department agreed, but now everything depends on the decision of the FSB, the press service of the business reported. -Ombudsman.
“The Ministry of Transport agreed to the proposal of Boris Titov, authorized under the President of Russia for the protection of the rights of entrepreneurs, to lift the ban on the transport of cargo through the Kerch Strait in universal soft containers (big bags). For the final decision, the Ministry of Transport asked the Federal Security Service to express its position on this issue «as soon as possible,» the message says.
It is specified that Titov, in his letter to the Minister of Transport Vitaly Savelyev, focused on the damage that this ban causes to the market of mineral fertilizers. «It was the mineral fertilizers of Russian and Belarusian production that were mainly transported through the Kerch Strait in soft containers (they are also big bags) with a capacity of up to three tons of cargo,» the press service explained.

The Commissioner also noted that the terminals of the Novorossiysk Sea Port, as well as the adjacent railway infrastructure, are overloaded and cannot take on this volume. «At the same time, vessels with diesel fuel, gasoline and liquefied gas, which are more dangerous goods, pass through the Kerch Strait,» he said in his appeal, a quote from which was given in the press service.

When transporting goods in a flexible container through the Kerch Strait, entrepreneurs propose to observe increased security measures, including packing non-hazardous mineral fertilizers in the customs and border control zones in the ports of the Azov Basin, as well as delivering goods from the manufacturing plant to the port with the involvement of transport security authorities.
«Now everything depends on the reaction of the Federal Security Service,» the business ombudsman's press service concluded.
