MOSCOW, 30 Aug. The 80th Film Festival will open in Venice. It will last until September 9th. The organizers will show 23 films of the main competition program.
Among them are «Commander» by Edoardo De Angelis (opening film), «Maestro» by Bradley Cooper, «Ferrari» by Michael Mann, «Adagio» by Stefano Sollima and others.
In the non-competitive program there are films with the participation of Russian actors. For example, the new film «Palace» directed by Roman Polanski with Alexander Petrov. In addition, Liliana Cavani's Italian film Timeline will be presented, in which Xenia Rappoport played one of the roles.
The festival will also show the 1996 film Andrei Rublev, directed by Andrei Tarkovsky.
The jury was headed by director Damien Chazelle, other referees of the review were Jane Campion, Mia Hansen-Löw, Laura Poitras, Martin McDonagh, Saleh Bakri, Gabriele Mainetti, Santiago Mitre and Shu Qi.
In 2022, the Russian-Kazakh film «Goliath» by Adilkhan Yerzhanov won a special prize at the 79th Venice Film Festival.
