The demand of the Danish authorities to reduce the number of Russian diplomats in Copenhagen is a manifestation of the hostile position of the country's authorities. This statement was made on Friday, September 1, by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.
The speaker of the Foreign Ministry warned that the necessary conclusions from this would be drawn by the Russian side.
Earlier, the Danish Foreign Ministry published a statement saying that the number of staff at the Russian embassy in Copenhagen should be reduced — it should have the same staff as the Danish embassy in Moscow, that is, 20 employees and five diplomats.
Denmark in July 2022 was included in the list of countries committing unfriendly actions towards Russia. Such states have a limited opportunity to hire employees in the Russian Federation in embassies, consulates and representative offices of state bodies. For Denmark, the limit is set at 20 people.
