MOSCOW, Sep 6, Vasily Bogdanov. Former Minister of Sports of Russia Pavel Kolobkov, commenting on the inclusion of two-time Olympic pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva in the updated composition of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athletes' Commission, said that even one person can achieve a lot there.
On Tuesday, the IOC published on the official website the updated composition of the commission of athletes, in which Isinbayeva remained. It is also listed in the Commission on Olympic Education. According to the press service of the organization, the IOC conducted a check on the Russian woman and came to the conclusion that she did not have a contract with the Russian army or law enforcement agencies and did not support the SVO.
“I expect from Isinbayeva that she will protect not only the interests of Russian athletes, but in general all — without any separation according to incomprehensible principles. Everyone should be treated equally. As you know, there are only 120 members in the commission, therefore, any vote is important. If you work actively, you can achieve a lot. So the presence of even one person in the commission is already a plus,» Kolobkov said.
