St. Petersburg, September 4 The State Museum-Reserve explained the situation with a girl in a wheelchair, who said that she was allegedly not allowed into the museum.
Earlier, Rise reported that a girl with a disability said that she was allegedly not allowed into the Peterhof Museum-Reserve.
According to the press service of the Peterhof State Museum Reserve, the girl could visit the 1st floor of the Grand Peterhof Palace. The museum staff also explained to her that at present the palace is not equipped with equipment for lifting people in wheelchairs to the 2nd floor. However, the girl refused to visit the museum.
The Peterhof Museum-Reserve sincerely regrets the incident. To date, the Peterhof Grand Palace is not equipped with equipment for lifting people in wheelchairs to the second floor. We are constantly working to improve the accessible environment for low-mobility groups of visitors, namely, the introduction of special technical means and attracting qualified personnel. In the near future, the problem of accessibility of the exposition on the second floor of the Grand Peterhof Palace will be resolved,» the press service said.
They also noted that for visitors with impaired function of the musculoskeletal system in the Great Peterhof Palace, the 1st floor and an adapted room with a video tour of the museum are available.
The Peterhof Museum, in addition to the Great Peterhof Palace, includes, in particular, the museums «Special Storeroom», «Bath Building» and «Catherine's Building», built for Empress Elizabeth Petrovna in the middle of the 18th century. Currently, the state museum-reserve «Peterhof» has 32 museums, 414 hectares of parks and gardens.
The Lower Park is adorned with more than 150 fountains and cascades, including the cracker fountains loved by children, as well as the Sun fountains in the eastern part of the Lower Park and the Triton fountain near the Big Orangery, which were opened after restoration in 2021. The most grandiose building of the fountain ensemble in Peterhof is the Grand Cascade, which was built simultaneously with the palace in 1715-1724. To date, the decorative decoration of the cascade includes 225 sculptures.
