VELIKY NOVGOROD, September 5 Selection for astronauts starts in the Novgorod region on September 7 and 8, meetings with candidates for the Roscosmos detachment, the press service of the university reports.
It is specified that on September 7 and 8 the region will be visited by a delegation of employees of the Yury Gagarin Research and Test Cosmonaut Training Center. A visit is expected from the Deputy Head of the Department for the Selection and Training of Cosmonauts for Flight and Ground Tests, Hero of Russia Anton Shkaplerov.
«In connection with the announced competitive recruitment for astronauts, the Roscosmos Corporation is holding a large-scale campaign of face-to-face meetings and selection of candidates for astronauts throughout the country. The delegates plan to visit enterprises of the military-industrial complex and the radio-electronic industry, with which NovSU cooperates in the field of training scientific and engineering specialties. Employees and students of NovSU will also be able to take part in the selection,» the press service quotes Vice-Rector of NovSU Anastasia Novikova.
The delegation also plans to visit school No. 13 in Veliky Novgorod and hold an open lesson in the space class, which began working on September 1.
