MOSCOW, September 4 The Khamovniki Court of Moscow postponed from September 5 to September 6 the consideration of the investigation's petition to extend the arrest of director Yevgenia Berkovich and playwright Svetlana Petriychuk in the case of acquittal terrorism, lawyer Sergei Badamshin said.
«Consideration of the petition of the investigator to extend the term of detention of Petriychuk and Berkovich was postponed to September 6 at 14:00,» the agency's interlocutor said.
The Khamovniki Court of Moscow at the end of June extended their arrest until September 10. Soon, as Badamshin said, the investigation appointed a psychological and linguistic author's examination, which is to be carried out by the FSB unit in the Sverdlovsk region.
In early May, the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow arrested Petriychuk and Berkovich on charges under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (justifying terrorism using the Internet). The article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to seven years.
As follows from the materials of the case read out in court, the case was initiated for posting on the YouTube video service a reading of the play «Finist Yasny Sokol», which, according to the examination, contained signs of justifying terrorism, the ideology of the terrorist group «Islamic state»* and jihadism.
The performance «Finist Yasny Sokol» Berkovich staged in Moscow based on the play by Petriychuk. It tells about women who have decided to virtually marry adherents of radical Islam and go to live with them in Syria. The performance, which was created, among other things, with the money of the Ministry of Culture, received the Golden Mask theatrical award.
