The scandalous situation with the parting of the dance duo Valery Angelopol and Vasilisa Kaganovskaya has become one of the main topics of the figure skating community Russia in the last days. About what happened and not only the Sport correspondent frankly spoke with Uncle Valery — two-time world champion and silver medalist of the 1998 Olympics Oleg Ovsyannikov. Krylova, or as a relative?
— Let's start with the fact that for almost a year I have not worked with them and have not even communicated with the guys.
strong>- A few months ago, Kaganovskaya and Angelopol were talked about as perhaps the most promising Russian dance duet. Could it have been saved?- I have been leading Valera in his sports life from the very beginning, as soon as I put the boy on skates. Whoever he rode with, he was always there. The boy is difficult. Everyone knew about his complex character. Only in any conflict there is no unambiguously right and wrong. Everyone is to blame. I don’t want to defend myself, but Vasilisa, and mothers, and — let my long-term partner, with whom we won a lot of things — don’t be offended — the coach. Although Anzhelika did everything possible to bring Kaganovskaya and Angelopol to a high level, smoothing out sharp corners.
— Could Krylova have resolved the situation, and should it have been done?< br>
— As far as I know, as far back as in July, a showdown between partners began, in this situation, Angelopol had to be kept in check very tightly. Although Vasilek is not a gift with us. However, among athletes aimed at high results, there is no one with an angelic character.
— Before your very eyes, Natalia Linichuk tamed Oksana Grischuk for many years. Could Krylova apply her experience?- Linichuk somehow managed to cope with the uncontrollable Oksana. With this coach, the duo Grischuk/Platov won the Olympics, won the world and European championships. But Krylova could not cope with Angelopol, although he warned her: there are no authorities for Valera. Only Frank Gureyro, Jonathan's father, could cope with him, besides me. He helped his wife Svetlana Lyapina, with whom Valera trained at one time. From the very beginning of the joint work, Maxim Stavissky made his nephew treat himself with due reverence.
—Will Angelopol be able to find a partner with whom he will find a common language?

— We had other relationships, yes and we were older. In the United States, where they lived then, the relationship between athletes and coaches was based on other principles. Everything was recorded on paper. How Grischuk didn't want to pay when she left Linichuk, but she had to.
— Have you ever been tempted not to pay?
— Never. All expenses and incomes were honestly divided into three parts: for costumes and performances, each contributed a third, and Anzhelika and I gave the same part to the coaches from prize money at competitions and earnings in the show. Everything is fair! The contract that Kaganovskaya rolled out to the public does not even closely resemble the ones that we signed. enjoyed your patronage, although you held the post of vice-president of the Moscow Federation.
— It seems to me that it was enough for Valery that his uncle was always there. Yes, and the word «protection» is not entirely clear to me. Was he supposed to run after everyone and insist that Angelopol and his partner be pulled in competitions? It was possible to take advantage of the situation when the guys were completely pinched. Only publicly never showed anything. Why would a young skater need to know this? Even if he did something, it remained on the sidelines.
— It is felt that you went through a good school, skating during the «reign» in the FFKKR Valentin Piseev and working under his leadership.
— I am grateful to this functionary for the lessons of life received. During joint performances, Anzhelika and I were protected from the leadership of Linichuk. In the FFKKR, when I was responsible for synchronized skating, I often got it on business, but I consider Piseev a brilliant leader. Perhaps he would have been able to toughly resolve the situation with Kaganovskaya and Angelopol, without bringing the matter to a discussion at all levels. The guys at some point caught the «star». For a while it was possible to keep it out of the public space, but in recent months things seem to have gotten out of hand. His «peacockism» did not bring anything good to Valera. I'm afraid it will get even worse.
— I judge regional competitions in Moscow. He opened a dance club, but not on ice, but on the floor. To be honest, I'm tired of all these passions around figure skating, which have little in common with sports. My wise wife advised me to do something that, on the one hand, is close, and on the other, it will be a pleasure. In figure skating, few people now appreciate «the soul's wonderful impulses.» Slowly we are rolling out the project. We have been doing it for a year, the kids are already entering competitions and winning prizes.
— How, from the standpoint of the two-time world champion and silver medalist of the 1998 Olympics, who performed in the «6.0» era, do you evaluate today's dances on ice?
— I do not agree with those who believe that the new rules have killed creativity. In our time, it was difficult for coaches to put on a bright, memorable dance. The current system has been in place for 18 years. A creative person, such as Krylova, works great in the new coordinate system. It is impossible to put on brilliant dances every season, but in general there are a lot of interesting finds. Even for very young skaters, whom I see from a refereeing position at children's competitions.
