The launch of the first Japanese SLIM module to the Moon is scheduled for September 7

TOKYO, Sep 4 The launch of the first Japanese lunar module SLIM is scheduled for September 7, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, which is developing the project together with the Japanese Aerospace Agency JAXA, announced on its website.
«The launch of the H2A rocket with the SLIM lunar module and the American XRISM astronomical satellite will take place on September 7 at 08.42 (02.42 Moscow time)», the company announced on its website.
The launch was supposed to take place on August 28, but due to unsatisfactory weather conditions associated with the wind, it was postponed.

The module will have to land on the surface of the Earth's satellite. Particular attention during its development, which was carried out jointly with JAXA by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, was paid to the development of accuracy during landing. The module will have to study the surface of the moon. If the landing is successful, then the expedition data will be used in the development of the American lunar mission Artemis 1 («Artemis-1»).
