In addition to the elections of the head of the region, in Primorye there are elections of deputies to the Duma of the Lesozavodsky urban district, Nadezhdinsky municipal district, Partizansky urban district, as well as additional elections of district deputies and elections of the head of the Runovsky rural settlement.
As of July 1, 1,414,586 voters are registered in Primorye.
The previous elections for the head of the region in 2018 had to be held twice. Based on the results of the first vote, the current governor Andrei Tarasenko and the candidate from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Andrei Ishchenko advanced to the second round. Against the backdrop of massive violations noted during the elections, the regional election commission, on the recommendation of the Russian Central Election Commission, declared the results invalid. Repeated elections in December took place within one day and ended with the victory of Oleg Kozhemyako, who received 61.88% of the votes. The turnout then was 46.35%.
Elections in Russia are held on a single voting day on September 10, 2023. The Central Election Commission reported that the EDC plans to hold elections of senior officials in 21 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and additional elections of State Duma deputies for four vacant seats in single-mandate electoral districts.
