Lula clarified his words about Putin's possible arrival at the G20 summit in Brazil

MOSCOW, September 11 If Russian leader Vladimir Putin will come to the G20 summit in Brazil, then actions against him in connection with the ICC warrant will depend on the Brazilian judicial system, said Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, quoted by AFP.
«I don't know whether the Brazilian court will detain him. This is decided by the judiciary, not the government,» the Brazilian president said.

Thus, he clarified his own words that Putin can easily come to the G20 meeting, because as long as he remains president, “there is not a single chance that he will be detained.”

In March, the Pre-Trial Chamber of the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Putin and children's ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova. The court charges them, among other things, with the “deportation of children” whom the Russian authorities rescued from Ukrainian shelling and transported from the combat zone to safe areas.
As the Russian leader’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said, raising the issue of the ICC about “Putin’s arrest” is unacceptable. Moscow does not recognize the jurisdiction of the court, and any of its decisions are void from a legal point of view. Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, in turn, noted that issuing a warrant creates a colossal negative potential and could have consequences in the form of a response from Russia.
