MOSCOW, September 11 The court sentenced former Rosselkhoznadzor official Dmitry Natarov to 12 years in prison and a fine of 18.8 million rubles for bribery and pedophilia, telegram reports -channel of the Moscow prosecutor's office.
“The Savelovsky District Court sentenced 44-year-old now former assistant to the head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Dmitry Natarov to 12 years in prison to be served in a maximum security penal colony, with a fine of twice the amount of the bribe, that is, more than 18 .8 million rubles,” the release says.
Additionally, he was banned from holding positions in the public service for 10 years after his release from prison.
He was found guilty of bribery and pedophilia, namely indecent acts against a child. Natarov was taken into custody in the courtroom. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force and can be appealed.
According to the defendant’s lawyer, Kirill Belsky, the victim in the bribery episode—he is also the father of the girl in the indecent assault episode—claimed that, as the owner of a large grain production company, he had been paying Natarov monthly for patronage for 10 years. We are talking about an amount of about 6 million rubles.
As for the charge of pedophilia, as the girl’s defense states, Natarov was a friend of her family and began sending her “indecent messages” when she was 13 years old. When the girl turned 15, she agreed to go with Natarov to the cinema, where he rented a private hall, argued the victim’s lawyer Shota Gorgadze.
After information was published in the media about Natarov’s possible relationship with a teenage girl, Secretary of the General Council of United Russia Andrei Turchak asked to fire the official, which was done. Natarov’s defense notes that he resigned from his post of his own free will, so as not to spoil the reputation of Rosselkhoznadzor.
