Chilean Foreign Minister Alberto Van Klaveren was the victim of an attack by armed criminals. This was reported by the portal 24horas.
The incident occurred in the capital of Chile, Santiago, after the meeting of the head of the Foreign Ministry with the President of Mexico Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
Alberto Van Klaveren arrived home around midnight, accompanied by his driver and police officers. At that moment, two people with weapons got out of the car and began to threaten the escort, who regularly accompanies the minister.
Police officers opened fire and wounded one of the attackers. After a failed shootout, the criminals fled.
Two suspects were later detained. These were men aged 24 and 26 with criminal records.
Alberto Van Klaveren noted that the car with the criminals was parked near his house. However, anyone could become a victim.
