VLADIVOSTOK, September 12. Rosatom may within a few weeks agree on the construction of a second low-power nuclear power unit in Yakutia with the RITM-200N reactor plant, said the general director of the state corporation Alexey Likhachev.
Rosatom will build a low-power nuclear power plant with a RITM-200N reactor unit with a capacity of 55 MW in the village of Ust-Kuiga in Yakutia. The construction of the nuclear power plant will provide electricity for the development of the Kyuchus gold deposit, the deposits of the Kular gold-bearing region, the Tirekhtyakh Stream tin deposit and the Deputatskoye tin deposit, as well as the development of other deposits of the mining cluster in Northern Yakutia.
«We are entering into agreements with Seligdar that will allow us to double this capacity… The foundation and construction camp that we have now been launched, focused on one block. I think that within a few weeks we will reach an agreement on adding to it,» Likhachev said at the session «Advanced Russian technologies to ensure technological sovereignty and development of the Far East» of the Eastern Economic Forum.

The possibility of doubling the capacity of the future nuclear power plant for Yakutia was announced in April of this year by the Rosatom company Rusatom Overseas, which is responsible for the implementation of this project.
Taking into account the significant prospects for further growth of the economy of the Arctic regions of Yakutia and an increase in electricity consumption, the government of the republic approached Rosatom with a proposal to consider the possibility of increasing the capacity of the Yakut NPP from 55 to 110 MW, noted Rusatom Overseas. It was reported that Rosatom is ready to offer an optimal technological solution that will provide a reliable and environmentally friendly source of generation for new production facilities, engineering and social infrastructure facilities.
The EEF takes place on September 10-13 on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University on Russky Island in Vladivostok . acts as the general information partner of the forum.
