Tricolor: 50% of clients named external attacks as the cause of satellite TV interference

MOSCOW, September 8 More than half of the Tricolor clients surveyed consider external attacks to be the cause of interference in satellite broadcasting, the satellite television operator reports.
In August, Tricolor conducted a survey among its clients in order to find out how aware subscribers are of the current situation with interference in broadcasting, as well as their causes.
«Over 50% of respondents who spontaneously named the reason indicated «External attacks «The second most popular answer option was “Problems with the satellite” — more neutral while maintaining the same semantic load. It was chosen by 26% of respondents. Another 19% of respondents indicated weather as the reason for interruptions in broadcasting,» the report says.
The study was conducted using a telephone survey using a sample that structurally corresponds to the operator’s base. Its largest segment was clients from the Central Federal District and Southern Federal District aged 35-59 years, who confirmed the presence of interference in broadcasting over the past two months.

Previously, Tricolor reported that subscribers of Russian satellite operators have been experiencing difficulties watching television since January 2023. Their reason is a wave of interference from the territory of a neighboring state. At the beginning of August, the operator also announced that a new powerful wave of attacks on satellite broadcasting in Russia began on July 26.
In response to this, a counteraction plan was developed and put into implementation. In particular, this required the transfer of clients in the Kaliningrad region to the Russian Express-AT1 satellite. About 20 thousand clients have already made the transition, the company indicated.
Tricolor is honest with its clients, always remains in dialogue with them and directly voices existing difficulties. The study confirmed that now our subscribers understand the nature of interference in broadcasting, and we are grateful that they treat the current situation with understanding,” commented Alexey Lipilin, Deputy General Director for Strategy and Development of the Tricolor company.

As the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, previously told reporters, the ministry, together with other departments, are taking measures to counteract the attempts of the Ukrainian side to impede the spread of television and radio signals in the Russian Federation.
All decisions have been made, they are within the purview of another department, he said .
Shadayev clarified that “they are simply jamming our spacecraft, the transponders that ensure propagation.”
