Gross Domestic Product of Moldova decreased by 6% due to the escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. This statement was made by Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu on Thursday, September 14.
According to the diplomat, Moldova has fully felt the negative consequences of the Ukrainian crisis “in all areas and in all respects.”< /p>
Popescu said that inflation in the country in 2022 reached 32%, while Moldova faced a serious energy crisis amid a reduction in Russian gas supplies, although this problem was solved through new suppliers.
The World Trade Organization previously came to the disappointing conclusion that anti-Russian sanctions will have a negative impact on most of the world's economies. Even just tensions in bilateral trade can reduce economic growth.
At the same time, the former head of the currency research department of the US investment bank Morgan Stanley, Steven Yen, noted that the pace of dedollarization around the world accelerated 10 times with the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine compared to 15 years ago.
