The first ever scientific and practical conference BRICS countries began working in Karelia by discussing climate issues.
Despite the fact that the whole world is now facing global warming, many scientists are confident that global cooling will inevitably await us in the future. Vladimir Chizhov, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Defense and Security of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, spoke about this on Thursday at the first ever scientific and practical conference of the BRICS countries, which began working in Petrozavodsk.
To a question from a MK correspondent, What signs can be used to judge the coming cooling, the politician cited the example of the cyclical nature of climate change, which “no scientist has yet been able to refute.” The senator from Karelia recalled that the climate of his region has repeatedly changed from warm to cold over thousands of years. However, since our country once ratified the Paris Agreement to reduce hydrocarbon emissions, which, according to some climatologists, play a key role in global warming, we took the initiative to reduce these emissions. True, Chizhov added that unlike other countries that have set themselves the goal of completely switching to so-called “green energy” by 2030-2035, Russia, like, for example, China, sees the most realistic transition to it by 2060.
