As you can easily guess from the name, the appearance of the special version was made based on a truck from the 1980s. Along with the nostalgic version, the current model received another new configuration, but the equipment was not touched.
The Nissan Frontier frame pickup truck intended for the States entered a new generation in 2021, and before that it was a clone of the previous generation Nissan Navara — that is, the 2004 model (the current global Navara has been in service since 2014). Now trucks don’t copy each other, and the new Frontier initially got off to a good start in America, but at the end of January-June 2023 it was in the red (the company publishes reports once a quarter): 34,139 units were sold, which is 21% less than after two quarters of last year. By comparison, the Toyota Tacoma sold 116,845 units during the same period (+7.5%). The updates that the 2024 model year brought to it should spur interest in the Frontier.

The main thing is that the pickup truck now has a nostalgic Hardbody Edition, presented in conceptual form last year. The inspiration for this modification was the Nissan Hardbody truck (D21) from the 1980s. The special Frontier features an aluminum skid plate at the front, black bumpers and wheel arch trims, and black decals at the rear. The model also received 17-inch wheels in the style of the original Hardbody. The retro version is only available for an all-wheel drive pickup truck with a two-row Crew Cab (Nissan Frontier also comes with a one-and-a-half-row King Cab).

For the 2024 model year, the four-door Nissan Frontier also gains a rich new SL package, replacing the optional SV Premium package. The list of standard equipment of such a truck includes LED optics (including foglights), leather interior, heated steering wheel and front seats, an electric sunroof, dual-zone climate control and a remote engine start system.

As before, all versions of the model have the system by default automatic braking with pedestrian recognition and cruise control. For an additional fee, you can order the Nissan Safety Shield 360 complex, which includes adaptive cruise, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping and rear cross-traffic alert systems.

The technology is the same: the Nissan Frontier is equipped with a V6 3.8 gasoline engine with a power of 314 hp. (the pickup received this engine even before the change of generations, it replaced the V6 4.0), which is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive (with rigid connection of the front axle and reduction gear).

Nissan Frontier-2024 with a one-and-a-half cab costs $29,770 — $35,670, with double — from $31,070 to $42,640, prices do not include taxes and delivery. The surcharge for the Hardbody Edition package will be $3,890. Sales will start in the US this fall.
