MOSCOW, September 13 The official position on the work of the WhatsApp messenger in Russia may be revised, said First Deputy Head of the State Duma Committee on Information Technology Anton Gorelkin in the Telegram channel .
Earlier on Wednesday, WhatsApp messenger launched the channels feature.
“If the Meta* product begins to expand its functionality towards mass dissemination of information, the official position regarding its activities in Russia may be revised,” he explained.
* The activities of Meta (social networks Facebook and Instagram) are prohibited in Russia as extremist.
