Spies caught a camouflaged prototype of the A290 hot hatch on public roads in southern Europe. The new product is expected to debut next year.
The French Alpine brand is owned by the Renault Group and is currently in the process of a major transformation. Back in 2021, it was announced that all future models of the brand will be electric, and now the company plans to release at least seven “green” new products. So, in 2024, the presentation of the Alpine A290 hot hatch is expected, a year later the GT X-Over SUV will debut, in 2026 the new generation A110 coupe and roadster are expected, in 2027 — a D-class crossover, a year later — an E crossover -class, and then, according to the plan, there should be a presentation of the A310 coupe.

The future first-born of the Alpine “rosette” line is currently in development. Let us remind you that this model is a close relative of the revived five-door Renault 5, which was previously caught in tests. Now prototypes of the Alpine A290 are also being tested on public roads in the southern part of Europe: colleagues from the Spanish publication Motor.es shared with us a portion of pictures of the camouflaged hot hatch.
The hatchback in the photographs is almost completely hidden behind a camouflage film, although some elements can still be seen, for example, part of the head optics, traditional exterior mirrors, a shark fin antenna on the roof, as well as a relatively large air intake integrated into the lower part of the front bumper . Judging by the pictures, it received an unusual diamond-shaped pattern.
The test hot hatch was also equipped with massive overlays on the wheel arches (it is possible that they will look different on the production version of the Alpine A290), large side skirts, a spoiler on the top of the tailgate, a diffuser in the rear bumper and wheels of an original design.
It is worth noting that the design of the new product will likely be partially borrowed from the Alpine A290_β concept, which was presented in May of this year . Let us remember that the show car had an unusual 1+2 interior layout, with the driver located in the center of the electric car. In production cars, the front row will be standard, that is, designed including for a passenger.

It is known that in The Alpine A290 will be based on the CMF-B EV platform. The electric car will be equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of about 60 kWh. It is expected that its maximum range will be 450 km (when calculated using the WLTP cycle). According to preliminary data, the output of a single electric motor will be about 220 hp. The Alpine hot hatch is planned to be produced at a plant in France.
At the beginning of this week, the first details about the Alpine A310 sports car appeared: this future new product is positioned as a competitor to the Porsche 911. It is expected that this electric car will be slightly larger and more spacious than the Alpine A110, which in turn intends to compete with the Porsche 718.
