MOSCOW, September 15 Ukraine has the potential to become a regional gas hub of Europe, there is an opportunity to increase the volume of blue fuel in Ukrainian underground storage facilities from two to 15 billion cubic meters, said Energy Minister German Galushchenko.
«The transformation of Ukraine into the gas hub of Europe is a reality. We have great prospects. As of today, European traders already store about 2 billion cubic meters of gas in our storage facilities, and we expect that by the beginning of winter this volume will be increased to 3 -x billion,” Gerashchenko’s press service quoted Gerashchenko as saying on the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Energy Ministry.
He added that in general, Ukraine is ready to provide foreign companies with up to 15 billion cubic meters of underground gas storage facilities (UGS). According to him, European traders continue to pump gas into Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities, which indicates that Ukraine has successfully realized its potential to become a regional gas hub.
As Deputy Energy Minister Nikolai Kolesnik previously stated, Ukraine hopes to become a gas hub for Europe; the authorities are offering European traders to use Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities (UGS) at the lowest prices.
Galushchenko previously reported that the majority of underground gas storage facilities in EU countries are full, which contributes to an increase in interest in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities.
