“Previously unpopular decisions should not have been made”
Payments to working pensioners may be indexed. But not everyone. The head of the Social Policy Committee, Yaroslav Nilov, submitted to the State Duma a bill on indexing the amount of a fixed payment to the insurance pension for working disabled pensioners. Let us recall that in Russia, since 2016, the pensions of working pensioners have not been indexed, unlike the pensions of non-working citizens of retirement age. Every year, various proposals are made from factions and non-factional deputies, providing tools for solving this problem. However, the initiative never came to fruition. Experts told MK whether working disabled pensioners can count on an increase.
Since 2016, the authorities have persistently denied indexation to all working pensioners. It would seem to be a great injustice that working pensioners are excluded from the indexing system. Pensions in Russia are of an insurance nature. Deductions from their salary are made for it throughout their working life: yes, formally their employer makes deductions for them, but, in essence, it is the employees’ money. You could say their deferred wages. Despite this, Russians cannot receive their own funds because they continue to work.
This time, an attempt was made to segment working pensioners into subcategories in order to try to achieve indexation for at least a separate group of citizens. There are much fewer working disabled pensioners than pensioners in general, which means that completely different amounts will be required to implement the initiative. Will it be possible to push through the project?
“The indexation of social payments in Russia is distinguished by a real and fair assessment of reality. It is charged no lower than official inflation, and often significantly higher. But the topic of working pensioners has been a very delicate one for many years. Their segmentation, at first glance, will not balance the scales of a fair approach to them, however, if it comes to resolving this issue, this is a clear signal from the authorities that justice can triumph and, what is important, already at the beginning of next year. The social well-being of a society is determined not only by money, but also by attitude towards people. Previously unpopular decisions regarding working pensioners should not have been made. Money will not bring joy to people if justice does not prevail. This is the mentality of Russians, and we must take it into account.”
Earlier, the expert told how working pensioners can get a salary increase.
— You can quit and after a while apply for the same job again . This must be done carefully, by agreement with the employer, says. – In 2–2.5 months you will formalize your employment relationship again, and your pension will be recalculated during this time. Many retirees are afraid of this combination: quitting and then returning to work. But in vain! If a retired person worked for about 6–7 years, then the increase will be significant and amount to about 6 thousand rubles. There is no need to be afraid of this, you just need to carefully negotiate with the employer and receive this bonus.
