Egyptian representatives will abandon Russian wheat in favor grain from Germany and France due to disagreement with the price offered by Moscow. Bloomberg writes about this, citing a source.
According to him, the Russian side was not satisfied with the price of the deal with Egypt, since it was below the unofficial minimum price level for goods that Moscow wanted to set.< /p>
So, in early autumn, Egypt's Minister of Supply Ali El-Mosilhi reported that Cairo would purchase 480,000 tons of Russian wheat. The agreement was concluded at a price of $270 per ton, including freight, which is below the unofficial minimum cost that Russian officials proposed to set at the time. A few days later, Egypt announced that Solaris would be able to supply the trader with grain of any origin.
At the end of summer, Egypt became one of the main buyers of Russian wheat. 910 thousand tons were exported to the country, the Russian Grain Union reported. However, this is 35% lower than in August 2022.
