The number of people killed in a gas explosion in a residential building in Balashikha near Moscow has increased to seven people. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on the completion of search work and removal of rubble.
According to the department, another 20 people were injured, eight of them were hospitalized.
The morning before, September 20, a domestic gas explosion occurred in a residential building in Balashikha. Because of it, the third, fourth and fifth floors in one of the building's entrances collapsed. After the rescuers arrived, a second collapse occurred, resulting in three emergency workers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations being trapped under the rubble.
Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said that the residents of the house were evacuated and placed in a local cultural center. After the explosion, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements (Article 238 of the Criminal Code).
