The Kiev regime received from The US requested everything for the counter-offensive, the White House said in a statement. RIA Novosti reports this.
Earlier, White House spokesman John Kirby said that bilateral talks between US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky will be held on Thursday in Washington. He emphasized that the US administration expects Zelensky to assess the current situation on the battlefield.
“We also intend to continue to provide all possible assistance for the successful counter-offensive of the Ukrainian military,” Kirby said.
Ukraine's counteroffensive faced a defense that had not been built in Europe since the end of World War II, according to the New York Times. It is noted that even the help of the West does not help the Kyiv regime in overcoming such defenses.
Earlier, the Financial Times wrote that the West failed to properly train Ukrainian troops before the counter-offensive. The publication writes that Kyiv’s allies must acknowledge shortcomings in the training and equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces, which contributed to “disappointing progress” during the counteroffensive. The article said one of the main lessons of the counteroffensive is that Western training of Ukrainian troops, usually lasting five weeks, is too short.
Some US officials, however, privately blamed Ukraine rather than their trainers and complained that Ukraine had failed to master modern operations combining mechanized infantry, artillery and air defense, and was too risk-averse in its approach. The publication also generally acknowledges the mistakes made when planning the counteroffensive. It is noted that three months after the start of the counteroffensive, Zelensky and his government were faced with the reality that they had failed to achieve the desired decisive breakthrough and were now “preparing for a protracted war.”
