UFA, September 21 Ufa law enforcement officers detained the alleged arsonist of a foreign car official; the man committed a crime because of a conflict in the professional sphere, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Bashkiria reported.
The Shot telegram channel previously published a video of the moment a car was set on fire: at night, a man places a package under the car and leaves. A few seconds later there is a bang, after which the foreign car lights up. It was reported that the Mitsubishi Outlander, worth 3 million rubles, belonged to the deputy head of the Blagoveshchensk district of the region, and the official connects the incident with his professional activities.
Earlier, the police, commenting on the situation, reported that a criminal case had been opened regarding this fact under Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “deliberate destruction or damage to property”, and a search was underway for the arsonist.
«Operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Bashkortostan, together with their Ufa colleagues and the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Belarus, interviewed possible witnesses to the incident, studied CCTV cameras. As a result of operational search activities, they were identified and detained in the city Blagoveshchensk suspected of committing a crime. He turned out to be a 39-year-old local resident,» the regional police said in a release.
According to one version, the suspect could have had a conflict with an official related to his professional activities, the department specified.
«A search was carried out at the residence of the attacker. A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against the suspect,» added the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Bashkiria.
