STAR CITY (Moscow region), September 21. The first simulator for preparing cosmonauts for flights to the future Russian orbital station will soon appear at the Cosmonaut Training Center, head of the training center Maxim Kharlamov told reporters.
“We have plans to create training facilities for the Russian orbital station. One of the simulators of the first block, which are planned for launch, is already being prepared, and I think that it will appear at the training center in the near future,” Kharlamov said.
In April 2023, the Russian government extended the operation of the Russian segment of the International Space Station until 2028. At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved all Roscosmos proposals to create a new Russian orbital station.
The Energia Rocket and Space Corporation, which should complete the preliminary design of the ROS in the summer of 2023, considers 2027 as the launch date for the first module of the new station. Its construction in orbit is planned to be completed in 2032.
