A case was opened against four Omsk police officers for abuse of office (clauses “d” and “e” of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code) and the sale of products without labeling provided by law (clauses “a” and “b” of Part 6 of Article 171.1 of the Criminal Code) ). This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Investigative Committee.
As the department clarified, the investigation has already filed petitions to select a preventive measure for the security forces.
According to investigators, from 2018 to 2023, police officers and civilians purchased, stored and sold unlabeled tobacco products in Omsk. “Part of the goods being sold is material evidence previously seized from illegal trafficking,” the Investigative Committee added.
The regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that the group consisted of six people, three of them were police officers from the city Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. They were selling goods. The fourth police officer works in the district department. It was in the territory under the jurisdiction of this site that sales took place. He, knowing this, “did not take proper response measures to suppress them,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs added.
