MOSCOW, September 21 Russian goalkeeper of the National Hockey League club ( NHL) New York Rangers Igor Shesterkin admitted that last season he was angry with himself for not playing the way he wanted.
In the last regular season, Shesterkin played 58 matches, in which he won 37 victories, repelling 91.6% of shots and conceding an average of 2.48 goals per match. In the playoffs, he played in seven games and won three victories, stopping 93.1% of shots and allowing an average of 1.96 goals per game.
«»Now I just want to be positive every day. Because last season I was very angry with myself because I wasn't playing the way I wanted. I was incredibly angry at every practice. I didn't want to talk to anyone except his family,” journalist Molly Walker quotes Shesterkin on her account on the social network X (formerly the social network Twitter).
The Russian has been playing for the Rangers since the 2019/20 season. At the end of the 2021/22 season, Shesterkin won the Vezina Trophy, the prize for the best goalkeeper of the NHL regular season.
