The investigation was opened on September 20 by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) Office of Defects Investigation, NHTSA said in a statement.
The company said it received 95 complaints alleging… that the oil pump could fail, causing the powertrain to fail while driving.
NHTSA said in June it was investigating a previous recall by the U.S. automaker that affected 710,000 Explorer SUVs , due to reports of loss of power, to determine whether the fix Ford implemented was adequate.
