MOSCOW, 21 Sep. British supermodel Naomi Campbell starred in the AppleTV+ documentary series “Supermodels,” in which she described how she almost died due to drug addiction in the 1990s, PageSix reports.
The runway star admitted that she turned to illegal substances and alcohol between 1998 and 2005 to cope with childhood trauma involving her father and the death of her close friend, Italian designer Gianni Versace (who was murdered outside his home in Miami Beach in 1997, — Ed.).

"When I started using, one of the things I tried to hide was grief. «You think, 'Oh, this will heal this wound.'» That's not true,» Campbell said.

According to the 53-year-old supermodel, after losing consciousness during a photo shoot in 1999, she went to rehab for the first time.

"I have always admitted (my mistakes. — Ed.) , so I decided to undergo rehabilitation. It was the best and only thing I could do for myself at that time,” said the celebrity.

Around the same time, Naomi Campbell began attending Alcoholics and Drug Addicts Anonymous meetings to avoid falling back into bad habits. Despite this, the supermodel suffered from breakdowns for some time.

Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington also starred alongside Campbell in the four-part series. They all took part in the project to talk about their lives and influence on the modeling industry.
