Strelna, September 20 Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Mariinsky Theater staff on its 240th anniversary and called it one of the most talented not only in the Russian Federation, but also in the world .
“I am pleased to congratulate the theater staff, veterans of this famous stage, all fans of opera, ballet, classical music and, of course, friends and partners of the theater on this significant date,” he said at a meeting of the board of trustees of the Mariinsky Theater.
Putin noted that the Mariinsky Theater is unique in the number of branches and thanked its management and staff “for taking on a very large and very important mission — ensuring the availability of productions and performances by world-class artists for residents of the regions of Russia.” As part of the creation of a modern cultural cluster, at the end of 2024 a branch of the Mariinsky Theater will appear in Kemerovo, the president added.
«The composition of the Mariinsky Theater is truly one of the most talented and fruitful creative teams not only in Russia, but throughout the whole world. This, of course, is the merit of the members of the board of trustees, for which I want to thank you all,» — said the president.
