Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, said that anti-terrorist measures of a local nature carried out by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the Karabakh region of the country, will accelerate the processes for establishing peace and security in the South Caucasus.
The meeting of ministers took place “on the sidelines” of the UN General Assembly in New York, reports the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.
According to Bayramov, the events also will speed up the process of reintegration of Armenians living in Karabakh. The Foreign Minister, as noted, informed Lavrov in detail about the reasons why the Azerbaijani side was forced to take such measures.
Bayramov noted that in less than a day, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces “put an end to illegal armed groups in Karabakh, which were financed by and were supported by Armenia.» Now, as he emphasized, in coordination with the Russian peacekeeping contingent, measures are being taken to disarm illegal armed groups.
In addition to the main topic, the ministers discussed issues of bilateral cooperation.
