The largest fish in the world is the whale shark — spotted by divers near the coast of the resort town of Marsa Alam in the Red Sea, the Cairo24 portal reported.
It is believed that it does not pose a threat to humans, despite its impressive size. The length of a whale shark is on average 13 meters, and its weight reaches 21 tons. It feeds mainly on plankton.
On June 8, a tiger shark attacked a Russian citizen in Hurghada, the man died. Later, local media reported that the shark that attacked the Russian was embalmed. It was going to be exhibited in the museum as an exhibit.
In Egypt, they are studying the possibility of obliging all local hotels to install special nets on the beaches in order to protect against possible attacks by predators.
