On September 24, the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft successfully delivered soil samples from the asteroid Bennu to Earth.
As reported by NASA, a capsule containing space cargo successfully landed at a test site in Utah.
This is the first US mission of its kind to bring back to Earth samples from a space object that will help unravel the mysteries of our solar system.
The scientists stressed that the soil will be processed in nitrogen-flushed cabinets to keep the samples in pristine condition.
It is also noted that these samples do not pose any danger to humans, and there is no chance that the sample could contain living organisms, since Bennu is an irradiated breed.
TOUCHDOWN! The #OSIRISREx sample capsule landed at the Utah Test and Training Range at 10:52am ET (1452 UTC) after a 3.86-billion mile journey. This marks the US's first sample return mission of its kind and will open a time capsule to the beginnings of our solar system. pic.twitter.com/N8fun14Plt
