The former head of the Human Rights Council called Yasin’s death a terrible loss for economic science

MOSCOW, September 25The passing of the former Minister of Economy of the Russian Federation, member of the Human Rights Council Yevgeny Yasin is a terrible loss for the economic science of the Russian Federation, for civil society and the Higher School of Economics, said the former head of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation Mikhail Fedotov.
Yasin’s death was previously reported by his daughter Irina on her social network page.
«»This is a terrible loss, first of all, for Russian economic science, this is a terrible loss for Russian civil society and a terrible loss for the Higher School of Economics. This is a completely unique person who was the Minister of Economics in our country in the most difficult years — in the mid-90s. x,” Fedotov noted.
He added that he worked with Yasin at the HRC when the latter headed the standing commission on economic freedoms.
“»It must be said that Evgeniy Grigorievich, despite his enormous employment at the Higher School of Economics, always found time to work within the framework of the Human Rights Council. I can say that he very often spoke at meetings with the president, raised very pressing issues and sought to ensure that specific decisions and measures were taken on the issues that he raised,” Fedotov said.
He also noted Yasin's qualities of empathy for others' pain and openness to new ideas.

In the early 90s, Yasin was the Minister of Economy of the Russian Federation, until 2022 — a scientific director, and then an honorary scientific director of the National Research University Higher School of Economics. Since 2018, he has been a member of the Human Rights Council in Russia.
