MOSCOW, September 26 Car dealers predict that the rise in prices for new passenger cars in the Russian Federation will continue, in total it is expected for 2023 at the level of 30% in annual terms, said Vyacheslav Zhigalov, vice president and executive director of the specialized association “Russian Automobile Dealers” (ROAD).
“»Unfortunately, we still expect prices to rise by the end of the year. An increase in the recycling fee and serious fluctuations in the ruble exchange rate have already led to an increase in the price of cars, and by the end of the year we can talk about an increase of up to 30% from January,» he said, answering a question about prices for new passenger cars in the Russian Federation.
According to Autostat, over 8 months of this year, almost 607 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia — 41% more than in the same period last year.
The recycling fee for cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks and buses has been indexed in the Russian Federation since August 1. The rate increased on average by 1.7-3.7 times for passenger cars (depending on engine size). At the same time, highly localized automakers in the Russian Federation who have a special investment contract (SPIC) are entitled to industrial subsidies. In the industry, they are generally considered compensation for waste collection.
