MOSCOW, September 25 French Sports Minister Amélie Oudea-Castera called for a ban on fans of the Paris Saint-Germain football club who chanted homophobic chants from attending matches.
On Sunday, PSG defeated Marseille (4:0) in the sixth round match of the French Championship. After the match, former Minister Delegate for Cities and Housing at the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Olivier Klein, posted a video on the social network X (formerly the social network Twitter) of PSG fans chanting offensive homophobic chants against Marseille.
“It is impossible to remain silent and not hear such homophobic and hateful chants in our stands. Despite the possible cost, this must be mercilessly fought with the help of fans, players, and authorities. Yesterday these chants ruined the holiday at the Parc des Princes. It is necessary to remove this from our stadiums,” Udea-Castera wrote on the social network X.
“Last night I took steps to ensure that a firm answer was given. The Disciplinary Committee of the French Professional Football League (LFP) will be assembled. I propose PSG» write a statement to identify the violators and bring them to justice in order to remove them from the stadiums,” she added.
